PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE by Nancy Leverett

About Blind Tennis: at the Board Meeting, Dana and Robert from the Highland Park Tennis Club and Dana's 6 year old daughter Domianna showed equipment, answered questions, and explained that this is a new sport in the United States and that they are still learning. Board members and guests had a great time using the blind tennis equipment, a tennis racket and soft foam balls with rattles inside.
I was amazed that even though I'm blind how often I could hit the tennis ball with the racket and it was a very satisfying feeling. I've always been afraid of flying objects but with the soft foam balls I never wanted to duck and put up my hands to protect myself.
