SIGHTED OR BLIND MEMBERS: WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU ON OUR CHAT SESSION! WE MISS YOUR VOICES!

I am happy to report that YOGA KEEPS GOING! It is still free of charge to participate. Thank you to those who sent a contribution. Our teacher, Richard, does not think it is safe for us to resume yoga at the Schoolhouse yoga studio. He is guiding us through intense breathing exercises. If we were back at the studio, that would be one way to spread the virus if someone had it who has no symptoms and he is concerned with our safety. So, we will continue doing yoga by conference call, which is going very well.
For details on how to dial in, email Veronique at veronik43@gmail.com, or call 412-225-4038.

Every Thursday it starts at 2:45pm, call in at 2:42pm. It is a one-hour session. Don't call too much before the starting time!
For people reading this by email, here is a link of our July 2 yoga session, which you can click on or paste into your browser to activate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v_BIbISDHM

Continuing our popular weekly chat session! Every Tuesday at 7pm, July and August, we will have a one-hour chat session where our Bold members can tell each other how they are doing during this difficult time. This is also a time you can ask for help if you need it. Number to call: 1-605-475-6777, passcode 265396# don’t forget # at the end. If you don't have free long distance on your phone, call Joyce 412-521-4385 or Peggy 412-683-6070 at least one hour ahead, one of them can tap you in.

Here is how it works best: Call in and say your name, even if you hear talking. Then mute yourself by pressing *6. The board member who is moderating will check who is on the call at 7:05pm, then will say a person's name. Unmute yourself again by pressing *6, then start talking about what's on your mind. It doesn't have to be Bold related. We are trying to have only one person talk at a time after the initial 5 minutes. Note that the board meeting is now private because we have the chat sessions. The moderators are: Terri on July 14 at 7pm, Veronique on July 21 at 7pm, Tammi on July 28 at 7pm, Nancy on August 4 at 6:30pm, followed by the Bold board meeting which is private. Penny on August 11 at 7pm, Veronique on August 18 at 7pm, and Karen on August 25 at 7pm.

We understand it may be a learning process to be on a group call and to have to wait till the moderator calls your name, but so far it has been an enjoyable experience, and takes us out of isolation.

Monday July 27, 7-8pm and again on Monday August 10, 7-8pm:

Book Night by phone, hosted by Nancy Leverett, call the same phone number and use the same code as the chat, 1-605-475-6777 code 265396#. We are trying to keep our members connected when it doesn't feel safe to have in person activities. If you have a friend who is a bookworm, they are welcome to call even if they aren't a BOLD member. Tell us about what you are reading now or your favorite book. Try to have the name of the book, and author, and if it's available through the National Library System and the NLS book number.

Monday August 31, 7pm: Humor Night hosted by Joyce Driben! Call the same phone number and use the same code as the chat, 1-605-475-6777 code 265396#. Come prepared to tell a funny joke, or just listen to people's jokes! Be prepared to laugh a lot!

LOOKING AHEAD

We are thinking of having a Bingo game over the phone in September. If you need a Braille bingo card and would like to participate, call Peggy at 412-683-6070 and ask her to send you a card in the mail. If you have a card and would like to play, call Peggy to let her know.

BOLD BITS

Bold recipe shared by Nancy: for a healthy snack on a really hot day: freeze some grapes! They are refreshing and lower in calories than ice cream!

Happy birthday to John Dern, Leslie Gottschalk, Ryan Leverett, Randi Shelton, Debi Sterling and anyone else with an August birthday.
