PAST EVENTS

Twenty-one BOLD members, two guests, and several volunteers attended the Games Day which Ray Jablonowski hosted on March 13th. Ray was a perfect host, and the helpers were equally awesome.

March 20th was when another successful ski season ended. That success is credited to Dom Ceresa, Nancy Leverett, all of the guides, and dedicated drivers.

The April 10th Bingo went well, thanks to Nancy Leverett providing Bingo playing cards, calling cards, and chips. Stu Weissmann, Carrie Fisher, and Maurice Johnston were extremely helpful at the event where there were nine attendees.

LOOKING AHEAD

On Sunday, June 5th, John Dern will lead a hike at the Bushy Run Battlegrounds in Harrison City, Westmoreland County. Terri Winaught, 412-263-2022, will take reservations by 10 PM on Sunday, May 29th, and also give more hike info.

Although Tammi Swiantek can answer general questions about rowing, which will start in June, participants must sign up with Sam Finigan: (short for Samantha), 412-410-7570, (cell). Email: samfinigan@threeriversrowing.org.

June's Board meeting will be on Tuesday the 7th.
Ray Jablonowski will host a picnic, the tentative date being Saturday, June 18th at Highland Park, with the Grove to be determined. Peggy Walsh will take reservations.

PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE

This Editor is humbled by Cindy Perseo's comments:
"I feel you're doing an excellent job editing the newsletter, and you've been doing it for so long. I also give kudos to the people at the school for the Blind who braille it."

Cindy concluded by emphasizing what a great job she feels everyone involved with BOLD Ventures does, and how much she appreciates it.

To offer a Perspective, phone 412-263-2022.

BOLD BITS

Get Well wishes to Carol Platt who had surgery on her leg which she broke in two places.

Congratulations to Penny Fleckenstein who gave such a great presentation on blindness to a new class of Port Authority drivers that she may be doing this on a regular basis. Kudos also to Jim Winaught who recently landed a security guard position with AmGuard, this new opportunity offering more hours and flexibility.

The Pittsburgh Lutheran Center will serve their last monthly meal until September.
Info? 412-682-1800.

Happy Birthday to Ellen Goldfon, Aubrey Lowry, Joyce Mulkern, Jerry Penfield, Benjamin Povilaitis, Rege Sullivan, Carolyn Thayer, Erin Wagoner, and anyone else with a May birthday.
Many Thanks to Bill Burgunder and Marty Mathews for their positive comments about BOLD Ventures' new format. To give feedback, 412-263-2022 or twinaught@comcast.net.

GREAT JOB! to BOLD'S Board, Devon Evans, Marty Mathews, Veronique Schreurs, Tina Wassermann, and the Braille Team she leads for making BOLD Ventures available and accessible.
