PAST EVENTS

Nineteen campers including first-timer Natasha Brown thoroughly enjoyed the May 6th through 8th Kon-o-Kwee Weekend. Tons of thanks to reservationist Mark Grasak and Kon-o-Kwee volunteers. Appreciation also to Maurice Johnston, John Perseo, Ed Reid, Stu Weissman, and Aimee Yunt, all of whom helped in different ways.

"The weekend at Camp was so rich and meaningful that I still need time to process it all," Peggy Walsh shared shortly after arriving home.

LOOKING AHEAD

On July 17th, we will be enjoying a variety of boating activities at North Park's Latrobe Grove. The possibilities Programs Chair Nancy Leverett is exploring are: kayaking, paddle boating, canoeing, rowing and paddle boarding. The Grove is in walking distance of the boathouse which has a cafe and restroom. Nancy will take reservations (see next newsletter for deadline). Boating will begin at noon.

Waterskiing will be held on Sunday, August 6th (more info next month).

CULTURAL CONNECTIONS

On Sunday, June 5th, the Pittsburgh City Theatre will present "The Lion" their last play until fall. Curtain time, 2 PM; Sensory Workshop, 1 PM; with audio-description, Braille programs and wheelchair accessible seating available upon request.

FUNDRAISING FACTS

On Tuesday, May 3rd, the Pittsburgh Foundation's Day of Giving, BOLD received $415, before this online Fundraiser was suspended because the website crashed. We'll keep you posted once we know when this Fundraiser will be rescheduled.

BOLD BITS

Ongoing Get Well Wishes and prayers for Carol Platt as she continues to recover from surgery. Get Well, also, to Lisa McManus who recently injured herself in a bad fall, and Linda Davis, who missed the Kon-o-Kwee Weekend in part due to a bad cold.

CONGRATULATIONS!! BRAVA!! and WAY TO GO!! to Joyce Driben who was honored at an April 28th Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. For 6 years, Joyce has been a reliable and much-loved volunteer (along with Tudor) at the Highland Drive VA facility. For volunteering with Joyce, Ed Reid received a trophy for being "right hand man," which gets a "Great Job!"

Congrats, also, to Maggie Ostrowski and Bob Westerman for having been on the winning "Top Cats" bowling team at the William Newland Memorial Bowl-athon which benefited the Golden Triangle Council of the Blind. GREAT JOB! also to Joe Wassermann who obtained 9 sponsors for that event.

Happy Birthday to Natasha Brown, Linda Davis, Peggy Walsh, and anyone else with a June birthday.

A lot of appreciation to everyone whose hard work and dedication keeps BOLD Ventures accessible.

THE END
