HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

ADMINISTRATIVE NOTICES

REMINDER OF OUR NEW BOLD POLICY

New policy starting in October for all activities with BOLD that have no cost to participate. (Note: not all activities are free. This policy applies only to the free ones). There will be a $15.00 penalty for not showing up or canceling for an event without a good reason. We have received donations that are making it possible not to charge for some activities. There are still costs to BOLD. By not attending an activity that you have signed up for you may be inconveniencing many people or taking the place of someone who did want to attend!

BOLD Dues: Please send a check or money order for $12 for your 2020 BOLD dues made out to W PA BOLD to our treasurer: Veronique Schreurs, 2269 Tilbury Ave, Pittsburgh PA 15217. This keeps you getting the Newsletter that has the upcoming events. Many of which are free or very discounted for BOLD Members.

We would like you to volunteer for one of these positions: President, First Vice-President, Corresponding secretary (editor of the newsletter). Please call Tammi 412-488-6298 to nominate yourself. Aren’t our activities fun? We are having a lot of fun also putting together interesting outings, and we would like more participation. Come to a BOLD board meeting (see below) and find out. Happy Birthday to Ernie College, Celeste Compomizzi, Karen Seligman and anyone else with a December birthday.

Compassion and condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Robert Ziegler, 62, who died peacefully at home on October 30. Bob was a great asset to BOLD in the ski program and participated in many other activities including organizing a fishing trip on a pontoon boat. We will miss this great guy.

Natasha Brown also asks for positive thoughts and prayers for close friends who have been ill, including one with a lung infection.

Terri Winaught was blest to have been given the opportunity to sing at a memorial service for colleagues, family members, and persons served at Pittsburgh Mercy who have died during the past year.

PAST EVENTS/PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE

By Maggi Ostrowski

What a great time we had during our Pittsburgh Party Pedaler outing, getting exercise on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and singing aloud to music requests while cruising through the streets of The Strip District and downtown Pittsburgh! And what a cool, Dutch-made bike it was, seating 15 passengers and one, enthusiastic and knowledgeable driver. Sure, our maximum speed was five miles an hour but why rush such a fun event? Plus, I met all my exercise goals for the day! Thank you, BOLD’s benefactor, for treating BOLD members to this outdoor event! And also, thanks to Ray Jablonowski, we were fueled with doughnuts during our stop in Market Square!

GROVE CITY SHOPPING: Twenty BOLD Members and friends shopped until they dropped with the help of students from Slippery Rock University as guides. Thanks to Peggy Walsh, Joyce Driben and Nancy Leverett for organizing this event and to BOLD’s Benefactor for providing the cost of the bus.

Thanks to all who contributed to the making of this newsletter.
