MY BOLD TAKE
By Debby Hill

It’s great when BOLD Plans come together:

On July 23rd along with great volunteers from the Pittsburgh Paddlefish, BOLD members went dragon boating. The weather was perfect, not to hot and the only rain we felt was the splashes we got from our own paddling. The Paddlefish folks took time to teach us on land the technique for paddling in the dragon boat, and then our skills were tested in a boat on the river. The idea is that everyone needs to be paddling together, but that plan didn’t always work even though we had a drummer who tried to keep us synchronized. It was really fun to feel the boat moving on the river and know that our team effort was making that happen. Many Thanks to the Pittsburgh Paddlefish!

On July 30th for the tandem biking event, once again we got a beautiful day.

The temperature was perfect, and there was a bit of a breeze. That was good because we all got a good workout on the tandem bikes. Scotto Grey and his wife, Leslie, kept things organized, and it was a fine crew of captains who made it a fun day. Thanks!

A BOLD day down on the farm

On August 18th a group of BOLD members visited the Braddock Farm. Once again the weather gods smiled on us and we had a beautiful day. We learned about what is grown on this approximately one-acre farm, where the produce is sent to in the Pittsburgh area, checked out various plants and then we were treated to freshly made delicious pizza using vegetables from the farm. Thanks go to Nick and his crew at the farm for providing good information and a fun day!

THE END
