BOLD BITS
Bold
was very well represented at the 40th annual Bayada Regatta held in Philadelphia the weekend of August 18th.
Congratulations to our winners! First place winners were Alycia Barras in the
women’s doubles, and Tobi Williams in the women’s guided single. The other
participating rowers, Tammi Swiantek, Maggie Ostrowski, and Nancy Leverett all
got at least one medal for coming in second or third place in their races. In a
historic first for the regatta all of the bold members along with three members
with disabilities from the Three Rivers Rowing Association participated in a
demonstration of rowing in an eight. If you're curious about what an eight is,
ask one of the champion rowers listed in this BOLD Bit. Good going and rowing!
BOLD
Tennis Players are off to the U.S. Open. Yes, and they are going to play there!
From 6 to 8 pm on Friday September 1st,
members of BOLD who play blind tennis will be demonstrating their techniques
and skill at the U.S. Open in Flushing New York. Perhaps they will make the
national news? (smile)
Jim
and Terri Winaught recently moved to the Forward Shady Apartments. Jim continues to need our get-well wishes and prayers
due to various medical issues.
Happy
September Birthday to: Ceinwen King-Smith,
Susan Oberlander, Stu Weissman and anyone else celebrating a September
birthday!
